For the Soapbox project, I created a GIF inspired by lyrics from Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero. With her new song and album, it felt relevant, and it relates closely with how it can feel when you have extra needs at school.
I used Photoshop to create my GIF. I decided to add some of my own hand drawn doodles and a paper texture background to resemble it to school. I copied pictures of my doodles into photoshop and traced over them with the pen tool. I included an infinity symbol, which a widely recognised symbol for neurodiversity.
I used a seriffed font that I felt went well with the design, but decided to change the font to Helvetica. I didn't time the original GIF, I used my memory to estimate the timings. I attempted to sync the GIF on the newer version. Here you can see the original design, with the new design in the middle, and a black on white version at the end.
After checking the GIF was correct and stayed in sync with the song Anti-Hero, I realised it was still out of time. After painstakingly timing the music by adjusting each frame by trial and error, I reached the correct timing. The final product is below!
