Set It Off: GIF

After learning how to create a GIF on Photoshop, I produced my own, with a jitter effect, for Set It Off! Even though it was created by accident (because I didn’t realise I could hide previous layers) I’m pleased with the jittery effect. It gives an unpolished, 'handmade' quality (even though it was created on Photoshop!)

I realised that I'd subconsciously taken inspiration from Set It Off's logo during their Cinematics album era. I began by chooing a typeface, and settled on this serifed, traditional one. I changed the sizes of certain letters to make the GIF look more interesting than just regular text. After experimenting with colours, I felt that black and white looked best with the chosen typeface. I was happy to settle on the design because I thought it captured Set It Off's previous brand and music in particular.

This is the logo and artwork

(left) for Set It Off's 2012 album, 'Cinematics', designed by PaleBird.

The resemblence between my GIF and this album artwork is clear; the seriffed text, the black and white colour pallet, and the 'in your face', look.
