Letterbox packaging is an ever increasing method of delivery! Small items can be delivered straight through your door without having to move a muscle.
Distribution companies like Amazon have been doing this for many years, but in recent times, the subscription box model has boomed, and so has letterbox packaging. Usually monthly, these companies send out themed products, from pasta, clothing, drink to perfume and flowers.
According to Barclays, 'the average Brit spends £620 a year on sign-up services'. Meal kits, ingredients and recipies delivered to your door, are very popular. Hello Fresh doesn't fit through your letter box, but products from Pasta Evangelists do. They deliver fresh pasta in a slim package through your door. Pasta? Posted!

This week's project is all about letterbox packaging, and I've decided to make packaging and branding for a cookie company called Mrs. Crumb's. I searched Google for vector illustrations of cookies to gather some design ideas. I tried different colour combinations, but settled on golden brown.

Next, I experimented with typefaces. My criteria was finding typefaces that were either calligraphic or serifed, in order to conjure the traditional branding I aimed for. I thought of brands like Aunt Bessie's and Ben's Original when creating my brand identity - the use of a familiar sounding name, the fonts, one calligraphic and one serifed.
With these brands and designs in mind, I created the name Mrs. Crumb's, decided on the final font, and created my logo!

The final design, the box, was created using a mock up from graphicburger.com
I added the logo, colour, and a tagline, and this was my finished concept!
