Christmas Card Designing

Last week, we were given a brief to design our college's Christmas Card! We were asked to create anything Christmas themed, no specific requirements.

I came up with a few designs before I created my final design.

I looked up a few Christmas cards online and found some hand drawn styles, so I came up with this spiral Christmas tree design. I used my college's branding typeface.

I came up with the idea to use a picture of the college and make it look wintry. I used a green overlay with red and white text to tie the colours to Christmas.

I created a repeat pattern with Christmas objects, and coloured them using my college's colours.

My final design was text in the shape of a circular bauble. It's a hand drawn design, and I'm really happy with it! I began by drawing the design on paper and scanning it in onto my Mac, and I finished by image tracing it, recolouring it to white, and adding dots as snowdrops. I used the college's blue colour as the background, and it ties in well because it looks like a winter's night sky.

I'm very happy with the final design I submitted. Its handmade quality gives it a lovely Christmassy cosy look! The handwriting fits well with the design, and the snow adds the finishing touch, making the card look full, but not busy.
